Attorney General Confirmation Vote

The Senate took up President Bush’s nomination of William Barr to be U.S. attorney general. The president nominated Mr. Barr when Attorney General Dick Thornburgh resigned to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania. Following speeches by Sen. Biden and Sen. Specter supporting the confirmation of Mr. Barr, the Senate confirmed Mr. Barr to be attorney general on a voice vote.
