In yet another random act of federalism from the Sunshine State, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday a plan to create a new police unit to pursue election-related crimes and wants lawmakers to enhance penalties for those who vote illegally.
The announcement of the Office of Election Crimes and Security comes just after he signed a law heightening security for mail-in ballots, per Just the News.
“I guarantee you this: The first person that gets caught, no one is going to want to do it again after that,” DeSantis said.
He also called on the republican-controlled legislature to put additional restrictions on the use of drop boxes.
“I don’t even think we should have drop boxes,” he said.
