Ilhan Omar Rails at Judge For Striking Down Ballot Measure to Defund Police

Rep. Ilhan Omar fired verbal shots at a state judge who struck down a ballot initiative aimed at defunding the Minneapolis Police Department, saying the ruling now deprives the city of the “flexibility” in needs to adequately protect residents.

“The court finds that the current ballot language is vague, ambiguous and incapable of implementation, and is insufficient to identify the amendment clearly,” Hennepin County District Judge Jamie Anderson wrote in his ruling on the measure. “It is unreasonable and misleading.”

The initiative seeks to replace the police department with a “public safety” agency that may or may not include trained police officers, according to reports, leaving city officials and Mayor Jacob Frey feverishly searching for a solution or workaround ahead of the November ballot.

Anderson issued his ruling Tuesday evening, just two hours before a 5 p.m. deadline for ballots to be sent to the printer’s office, The Associated Press reported.

“The rejected language for the proposed amendment to the city charter, approved by the City Council last month, would have asked voters whether to replace the police force with a new but mostly undefined Department of Public Safety that ‘could include police officers,” the newswire reported.

“It would have removed a mandate that the city has a police department and provide at least minimum staffing levels based on population. The council instead of the mayor would control the new entity,” the AP said.

The City Council approved revised language that Frey says they are now obligated to send to voters. The mayor, who has vetoed similar language twice before, said he’ll vote against the measure this fall, adding that he believes changes can be made to the police department without altering the city’s charter.

Omar, a Democrat whose 5th Congressional District includes the city, ripped Anderson’s decision in a town hall meeting in the city on Wednesday, blaming big-money interests for the ruling.

“The leaders who are opposed to progress in this city are not nameless or faceless,” she said, according to Fox News. “Using your network to obstruct the kind of progress so many people in this city want and were looking forward to is not something that should go unnoticed.”

“This ballot measure should be on the ballot,” she added. “As you can tell, I’m pretty upset about it.”

“We have people pouring in so much money to make us enslaved to a charter that the majority of us [oppose],” went on. “This is the opposite of what democracy should produce.

“The people had a vision for what they wanted, and there’s a judge, there’s a mayor, there is a police chief, and their monied friends who are telling us we can’t have a city that is flexible to our needs and to our demands. How else are we supposed to make progress if we can’t do that?”

In an op-ed published by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune last month, Omar talked up the initiative, claiming the police force, as is, has been a failure.

“The truth is the current system hasn’t been serving our city for a long time,” she wrote. “I have long said we need a public safety system that is actually rooted in people’s basic human needs.”

Omar is not alone in her support for the measure. Former far-left U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, now Minnesota’s attorney general, said Minneapolis residents want to see major police reform and “accountability” following the murder of George Floyd in the city last year.

“Fundamentally, communities across [Minneapolis] need & want the possibility for reform & accountability, which the current Charter blocks by locking us into an outdated model for law enforcement and safety. They want to end the cycle of inaction,” Ellison tweeted Aug. 31.

“This year the residents of [Minneapolis] have asked for and can take that first step of action on the ballot. As a resident of [Minneapolis] where George Floyd’s murder sparked a national call for real reform, I will vote Yes for greater public safety & more human rights for all. #Yes4Minneapolis.”

In July, Anderson ordered Frey and the City Council to hire more police officers in response to a lawsuit from residents who said they did not feel safe in the city. The order “means the city must employ 730 sworn officers by June 30 of next year,” Fox9 reported.

Federal Judge Sides With DeSantis on Mask Mandate Ban

A Miami federal judge has sided with Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis and ruled against parents of students with disabilities in a lawsuit over public school mask mandates.

“Twelve parents from eight different Florida school districts whose children have special needs sued the governor and the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) over an executive order (pdf) that allows parents to opt-out of student face coverings. The eight school boards of Alachua, Broward, Hillsborough, Orange, Palm Beach, Pasco, Miami-Dade, and Volusia were also named in the suit for implementing the governor’s order. The federal suit argued that their children were at elevated risk of becoming ill or dying from COVID-19 if other children came to school without facial coverings,” The Epoch Times reported.

“In Judge K. Michael Moore’s decision, he denied the parents’ request for a preliminary injunction against an executive order that DeSantis issued in July, which was the catalyst for the Florida Department of Health to issue a rule (pdf) requiring school districts to allow parents to opt-out of any student mask mandates. So far, 13 school districts have defied the governor’s order. Two counties, Broward and Alachua, have been fined for non-compliance, while others are under investigation by FDOE,” the report added.

Moore ruled that the parents did not exercise all “remedies” at their respective schools to accommodate their children’s needs before filing the lawsuit.

Last week, DeSantis, who has been an adamant opponent of Joe Biden, scored another court victory against Democrats.

Florida’s 1st District Court reinstated a stay on mask mandates in schools that DeSantis had instituted, blocking local school requirements, CNN reported.

The order stops a lower court’s temporary freeze on the governor’s ban on mask mandates in schools.

“When a public officer or agency seeks appellate review, which is the case here, there is a presumption under the rule in favor of a stay, and the stay should be vacated only for the most compelling of reasons,” the order said.

“Given the presumption against vacating the automatic stay, the stay should have been left in place pending appellate review,” it said.

The latest court ruling comes amid a showdown between the state and some local school districts that have insisted on requiring students to wear masks as Covid-19 infections surge.

The civil rights enforcement arm of the US Department of Education added to the issue Friday, saying it is opening an investigation into whether the Florida education department “may be preventing school districts in the state from considering or meeting the needs of students with disabilities” with the mask mandate ban.

The Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) sent a letter to Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran Friday, detailing how “OCR is concerned that Florida’s policy requiring public schools and school districts to allow parents to opt their children out of mask mandates may be preventing schools in Florida from meeting their legal obligations not to discriminate based on disability and from providing an equal educational opportunity to students with disabilities who are at heightened risk of severe illness from COVID-19.”

The federal department last month said it had sent letters to state school officials in five states — Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah — notifying them of investigations into whether their state mask restrictions prevented students with disabilities from “safely returning to in-person education, in violation of Federal law.”

“No surprise here – the 1st DCA has restored the right of parents to make the best decisions for their children. I will continue to fight for parents’ rights,” the governor said on Twitter, celebrating his victory.

No surprise here – the 1st DCA has restored the right of parents to make the best decisions for their children.

I will continue to fight for parents’ rights.

Some school districts did not agree with the decision and vowed to continue the fight.

Pelosi Launches Disgusting Attack Against Trump Supporters, Refers to Them as a ‘Cult’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi referred to former President Donald Trump’s legions of supports as members of a “cult” while suggesting they were detrimental to the stability of the country moving forward.

Pelosi, a California Democrat and a lightning rod of controversy for her party, made her remarks ahead of a G7 Speaker’s meeting in Chorley, England.

“Why you say that about what I say about the Republicans is I say to my Republican friends — and I do have some — take back your party, you’re the grand old party of America,” she said.

“You’ve done wonderful things for our country. You’ve now been hijacked by a cult, that is — it is just not good for our country. Take back your party. Do not let it be dominated by those who want to suppress the vote, because they have no positive message to win,” Pelosi continued, before accusing Republicans of trying to “suppress” voting rights.

“They want to suppress the vote and that’s how they would win. Those who disrespect the rights and the beautiful diversity of America and it is even becoming more so,” she claimed.

“They completely disregard the fact that in the country, overwhelmingly in the country, people support gun violence, 80 percent something, and so forth background checks for guns, Democrats, Republicans, independents, gun owners, hunters, but not the members of Congress. Same thing with climate. Same thing with — woman’s right to choose it’s not as high as that, but it’s high,” Pelosi charged.

“So take back your party so it’s more a reflection of Republicans in the country than allegiance to the former president. And one of the ways we can help improve that situation is by passing H.R. 1 which would have to redistrict in a way that is again agnostic just along the lines of the Voting Rights Act,” Pelosi said.

“It may not benefit Democrats but it may benefit the country because it would make Republican districts more open to people other than the ones that are in Congress now,” she said.

In a statement posted to her website, Pelosi also addressed the nature of the Speaker’s meeting.

“It is a privilege to join my G7 colleagues in the United Kingdom to discuss a top priority for legislatures and governments across the world: how to balance security and openness, particularly in light of challenges from the coronavirus pandemic, cyberthreats and terrorism,” she said.

“Public access to the workings of government is a cornerstone of democracy, and it is therefore imperative that parliaments and legislatures remain as open and transparent to the public as possible. We need to hear from – and be accountable to – those we are privileged to represent, as we work to deliver results in their lives.”

“As representatives of the G7 nations, we all have a responsibility to work together to strengthen our democracies and advance the democratic values of accountability, openness and public engagement,” she added.

To the latter point about working together, Pelosi — who runs the House and is third in line to the presidency — took no responsibility for her Democratic Party’s role in the hyperpartisan nature of Washington politics. She also did not address her iron-fisted rule over the chamber and unwillingness to consider any legislative priorities or amendments offered by the GOP.

“Democrats live under a different rule than the Republicans. Mrs. Pelosi is an iron first,” Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., told Hill.TV’s Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton in February 2019 regarding support for then-President Donald Trump’s border wall construction.

“There are 60 or 70 Democrats that have stated publicly — and I’ve talked to some of the others that haven’t — that are in favor of it but are afraid of the leadership and that’s unfortunate,” he said.

In July, Republicans blasted the Speaker for re-imposing a mask mandate though the Senate, which is run by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was not requiring them to be worn.

“What’s interesting, we stand out here in front of the Capitol by the chambers of the House,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarty, R-Calif., said. “But, as you look across on the other steps, is the Senate. I’m not quite sure where the CDC got it, but somewhere in the middle about that dome (in between), the science changes.”

Piers Morgan To Join Fox News, New York Post

There’s another major shake-up happening at Fox News.

The conservative network has announced that Piers Morgan will be joining News Corp and Fox News Media in a global deal.

This will also include content across other platforms across the News Corp network, including Fox Nation and the New York Post.

Morgan, for the record, has been slamming Joe Biden lately, and his new platform could give him even more room to go after the White House.

Morgan recently slammed Biden for the “deadly Afghanistan fiasco,” warned if he “goes woke, he will go broke” by trusting liberal and ripped Biden for his “rambling, stumbling, dreadful” decisions on foreign policy.

Morgan will host a television show on Fox News airing in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, and write a biweekly column featured in the New York Post and The Sun.

“Piers is the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire,” News Corp chief executive Rupert Murdoch said.

“Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist, and says what people are thinking and feeling,” Murdoch added. “He has many passionate fans around the world and we look forward to expanding his audience in the UK, at FOX Nation, Sky News Australia, The Sun, and the New York Post.”

“Morgan’s new show will air on talkTV in the UK, FOX Nation for U.S. audiences, and Sky News Australia. It will be produced and filmed at News UK’s studios in London Bridge. Morgan will also present a series of true crime documentaries,” Fox News reported.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott spoke highly of Morgan in the announcement.

“Piers is an exceptional talent,” Scott said. “We look forward to him making an impact and exploring opportunities with him on all of our platforms, especially FOX Nation, where our subscribers will love his new show tackling the subjects everyone is talking about.”

Morgan released a statement saying he is “thrilled” to return to News Corp, which is where he got started in media roughly 30 years ago.

“Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together,” Morgan said.

“I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged,” Morgan continued. “I’m also delighted to become a columnist for The Sun and the New York Post, two brilliantly successful and popular newspaper brands. I’m going home and we’re going to have some fun.”

Fox News also announced that Aishah Hasnie will be tapped to replace Heinrich in her former role as a congressional correspondent.

Fox News President Jay Wallace made note of the big moves, saying “we look forward to adding Jacqui to our outstanding White House team alongside Peter Doocy and are pleased to welcome Aishah and Alex to our exceptional Washington bureau.”

Last month, Fox News parted ways with legal contributor Andrew Napolitano after a sexual harassment lawsuit was filed by a production assistant.

‘That’s Treason, It’s a Crime’: Tucker Reveals Real ‘Coup’ After Milley Revelations

The D.C. swamp continues to protect its own.

Fox News host delivered fiery remarks this week about an explosive new book alleging that General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held secret meetings behind Donald Trump’s back and even secretly told leaders not to take military strike or nuclear orders from Trump days after the Jan. 6 incident at the U.S. Capitol.

During a segment on his Fox program, Carlson warned about Milley’s actions being “treason” and what he believes to be the real “coup” against “democracy” in the United States.

“We almost never use the term Deep State on this show. There’s something about it that sounds paranoid, even a little nutty. As of just a few years ago you mostly heard the phrase from relics on the far left, the kind of people who lecture you about the United Fruit Company and the toppling of Mossadegh,” Carlson began.

“The term then and now suggests that our democracy is fake,” he went on. “Elections and domestic politics are just a sideshow no matter who you vote for in the end, the same people still run everything.”

“That is a pretty dark understanding of the American system,” Carlson continued. “If you are a normal person who grew up here it is the last thing you want to believe about your own country. It seems crazy.”

“Then you read stories like this one,” Tucker said. “According to reporting this summer, in the days after last November’s election, Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a meeting with senior military officials at the Pentagon.”

“Milley wanted to inform them of what he described as a ‘serious threat’ to national security,” he went on. “A threat so grave it imperiled, quote, ‘the stability of the republic.’ That threat, Milley said, was the sitting President of the United States. Donald Trump had dared to question the election results. For this, Milley explained, the U.S. military might be required to use physical force against the U.S. president.”

“We’re the guys with guns,” Milley said. “Apparently he had been preparing for this moment,” Tucker added. “Milley had had conversations with the head of the CIA Gina Haspel and the NSA Paul Nakasone. He had also spoken directly to Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Donald Trump’s chief political rivals.”

“Now, according to a new book by Bob Woodward and Bob Costa, Milley apparently went even further than that,’ Tucker said. “On October 30th of last year, Woodward and Costa report, Milley called his counterpart in China, that’s a general called Li Zuocheng. Milley did not tell his boss, the president, about this call either before he made at or after.”

“Here was Milley’s message for the Chinese military: ‘General Li, I want to assure you the American government is stable and everything is going to be okay. We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you.’ And then, reportedly, Milley said this, ‘General Li, you and I have known each other for five years. If we are going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time, it is not going to be a surprise’.”

“Let that sink in, ‘if we are going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise’,” Tucker said. “So according to this account, our country’s top defense official secretly colluded with the chief military rival to undercut the President of the United States. How would you describe that?”

“Deep State is not strong enough. That’s treason. It is a crime,” he said. “And apparently, Mark Milley is not the only person who was implicated in this crime. Others knew what was happening as it did. Our intelligence agencies almost certainly heard Mark Milley’s call.”

WATCH:

“In fact, there was a coup in process, but it didn’t come from the right,” Tucker went on. “It wasn’t brewing in Alabama. Instead, a constellation of unelected government employees loyal above all to the Democratic Party and to the permanent class in Washington ignored the United States Constitution. And then they invalidated the votes of tens of millions of American citizens.”

“How did they do that? Because they invalidated democracy,” he said. “Democracy doesn’t mean anything if the people you elect have no power. And Mark Milley did his best to make certain the elected president had no power.”

“In early January, Woodward and Bob Costa reported, Milley called another meeting with senior officials at the National Military Command Center,” Tucker went on. “He informed this group that they reported to him, not to the elected President of the United States and that is not a small claim. The National Military Command Center controls, among other things, the nuclear weapons inside our missile silos, as well as the nuclear weapons onboard our submarines.”

“Mark Milley was seizing personal control of the American nuclear arsenal,” he said. “He ran around and demanded that officers submit to his authority, not the presidents. Milley told them to follow no orders without first consulting him. According to Woodward and Costa, all present in the room agreed to this.”

“So, civilian control of the military was over. Mark Milley was in charge,” Tucker added. “If this is true, it is one of the scariest things that has ever happened in this country.”

“You often hear people say they’re worried about authoritarianism coming to America. Well, it’s here,” he said. “That’s what this is. It is an authoritarian government. It is government by unelected, unaccountable leaders who are willing to use violence to preserve their power.”

“That is what this book describes. It is shocking,” he continued. “Not surprisingly, our news media have spent the day celebrating it. It turns out the self-described defenders of democracy don’t really believe in the system they claim to revere. The idea of giving voters power over their own government repulses people like this.”

“So they are relieved to discover that in fact, our democracy is fake,” he added, and then demonstrated that the majority of those who work in the news media, indeed, are enemies of the people.

Report: Biden Ignored Warning from Commander of US-Afghan Forces to Not Withdraw Troops

Joe Biden’s narrative on the Afghanistan evacuation took a hit this week when Army Gen. Austin Miller, who was the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, gave some news to the Senate.

Fox News reporters Jacqui Heinrich and Jennifer Griffin said that during a classified hearing Miller told the Senate that he “advised against the Afghanistan withdrawal.”

“THREAD with reporting from me and @JenGriffinFNC: Gen. Austin Miller, former Commander of US forces-Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee in a classified hearing yesterday he advised against the Afghanistan withdrawal, two sources confirm to me,” Heinrich said on Twitter.

NEW, THREAD with reporting from me and @JenGriffinFNC : Gen. Austin Miller, former Commander of US forces-Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee in a classified hearing yesterday he advised against the Afghanistan withdrawal, two sources confirm to me.

— Jacqui Heinrich (@JacquiHeinrich) September 15, 2021

“According to two members present for the hearing, Gen Miller passed his recommendations through the chain of command — that the US should keep a level of troops on the ground (2500 was the number at the time) in order to maintain stability given the Taliban threat assessment,” she said.

“Miller’s view was troops should maintain holding pattern – potentially supplemented by add’l forces from allied nations – given the threat. Miller shared no recommendation on how long forces should have stayed, making clear he didn’t know what the end timeline would be.

“Miller also said that he strongly dissented with the intel assessment that Afghanistan would fall to the Taliban between 1-3 years, saying he thought it would go much, much faster,” the Fox News reporter said.

“Miller also said once his recommendation was turned down, it became his job to execute on the withdrawal order – and eventually, decisions like abandoning Bagram were made because of constraints and troop caps imposed by the President’s orders.

“For example, the 1k soldiers at Bagram were essentially forced out because they had no life support, and none was coming – because of President’s withdrawal timeline and troop cap,” she said.

Biden was asked by ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos if the Afghanistan withdrawal could have been handled any better or if any mistakes were made, to which Biden said “No.”

“The idea that somehow there’s a way to have gotten out without chaos ensuing, I don’t know how that happens,” Biden said.

But that does not correlate with what Miller reportedly said to the Senate.

Heinrich said that Gen. Milley made an “impassioned plea” to keep some troops in Afghanistan and it fell on deaf ears.

She said it “further makes case POTUS rebuffed commanders, pressed on w/ full withdrawal against advice.”

Miller had the opportunity to present his views to Biden and they were included in the Chairman of Joint Chief’s presentations to the National Security Council before Biden made his decision. He also met with Biden after his trip to Kabul.

Biden made certain to have troops withdrawn from Afghanistan by August 31, which the Taliban said was a red line.

“It is a red line,” Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen told Sky News, referring to the deadline set by Biden. “President Biden announced that on 31 August, they would withdraw all their military forces.”

Shaheen warned that any extension of the deadline constituted “extending occupation while there is no need for that.”

“It will create mistrust between us,” Shaheen said in the interview. “If they are intent on continuing the occupation … it will provoke a reaction.”

As Afghanistan has collapsed and been taken over by the Taliban, Biden has not handled questions very well about his catastrophic decision to withdraw U.S. troops from the region.

While speaking from the White House, Biden was clearly peeved after a reporter asked him if he trusts the Taliban since his administration has done essentially nothing to prevent the terrorist organization from taking over Afghanistan and its capital city of Kabul.

“Do you trust the Taliban?” a reporter asked.

“I don’t trust anybody including you. I love you but there’s not a lot of people I trust,” Biden said.

Conservative Writer Wayne Dupree Speculates Kamala Harris Could Be Candidate For President In 2024

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, there has been a ton of speculation about who is going to be the Republican nominee.

But the Democrat nominee has been assumed to be Joe Biden, particularly after CBS News reporter Nancy Cordes that he intends on being the nominee.

“Have you decided whether you are going to run for reelection in 2024? You haven’t set up a reelection campaign yet, as your predecessor had by this time,” she said.

“The answer is yes. My plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation,” he said.

That would likely rule out Kamala Harris attempting to get the nomination as it would cause infighting in the Party and the administration if she did.

But conservative writer Wayne Dupree has a theory. And his theory is a stunning one as it involves Harris getting rid of Biden to make herself the president and the nominee via the 25th Amendment.

The 25th Amendment says “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”

Dupree talked about the issues Biden has had with Afghanistan, inflation, immigration, and other things during his first year in the White House and speculated that it could be part of some master plan by Harris and the Democrats to let him take the brunt of the criticism.

“If so, recent events have moved the timetable up. Biden’s weird basement campaign was meant to protect him from the kind of public meltdown he’s had over Afghanistan. But there’s no hiding it now. Even Harris’ cackle is a public relations preference to a president who submerges into a fetal state when the heat comes calling. So what’s the plan?” he said.

“Well, they can’t do it under the gun. So it won’t be immediate. But they don’t want to go into the midterms with Biden as an albatross. If this was indeed a plan then Biden knows he was a patsy president and will be ready to resign probably next spring. If not, there could be some pushback from Team Biden directed at Team Obama/Harris. Biden may be just sentient enough to resent being pushed out of power. However, if Harris uses the 25th he is at a disadvantage. Btw, there is a DC rumor that Harris’ veep pick would be Michelle Obama. Probably poppycock. Probably.

“Or could this be the Dems ‘ace’ up their sleeve, since Kamal’s poll numbers are almost as bad a Joe’s?” he said.

And it could be the Harris is being kept in the shadows to insulate her from criticism and keep her pristine for her chance at becoming president.

The vice president appears to be MIA as Americans remain stranded in Afghanistan and other Americans continue to recover from Hurricane Ida, Just The News reported.

The vice president has been conspicuously absent lately from coverage and appearances pertaining to the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan — after having proudly claimed just four months ago to have been the “last person in the room” with Biden as he decided to fully withdraw U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

Kamala Harris’ absence is especially puzzling given the recent drop-off of confidence in the president. The generally even-keeled Mike Pence was often trotted out to take questions as head of the coronavirus task force, especially after days of the more combative commander-in-chief duking it out with the press corps. The same, however, cannot be said of this vice president.

On the Fox News show “The Five” last week the hosts speculated about where Harris maybe during her apparent absence.

“If I’m Kamala Harris right now, I’m extremely offended because you have been used,” co-host Will Cain said. “They used you to pander to a voting base to get votes. They had a minority, they had a woman and now that they don’t need her, they have shelved her because her approval rating is -19.”

He said Harris is a “liability” to the administration when she is on the scene but she was not a liability during the 2020 presidential election.

“Kamala has a right to be very, very upset,” the host said. “But the Biden administration is in a very tough position. Do we admit that we used Kamala to get elected, or do we run her back out and hurt our numbers the way hers have plummeted?”

Shannon Bream noted that Harris’ own presidential campaign was a disaster.

“She was a great fit for this ticket, the host said. “But remember during the primaries she never caught on fire. She wasn’t great in the primary debates. She wasn’t polling well, she couldn’t raise money… So while she was a good fit on the ticket, whether she can be a good leader and manage things well is a totally different question.”

But host Greg Gutfeld speculated that Harris is being kept safe so that she can be used when the time comes.

“They’re just waiting for the right time to break the glass and take her out,” he said. “We really don’t know how bad she is but Democrats are going to assume it can’t be any worse than this.”

Vindman Says General Milley Should Resign

The General Milley story is getting even more complicated and deeper than was originally reported.

For starters, retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who was the key witness against President Donald Trump in his first impeachment trial and who has not shown himself to be a big fan of Trump, called for General Milley to resign if the accusations made in a new book about him are true.

The book, “Peril,” which was co-authored by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, alleges that Milley reached out to his Chinese counterpart to assure him that he would warn him if Trump initiated a strike against China.

“If this is true GEN Milley must resign. He usurped civilian authority, broke Chain of Command, and violated the sacrosanct principle of civilian control over the military. It’s an extremely dangerous precedent. You can’t simply walk away from that,” Vindman said on Twitter.

If this is true GEN Milley must resign. He usurped civilian authority, broke Chain of Command, and violated the sacrosanct principle of civilian control over the military. It’s an extremely dangerous precedent. You can’t simply walk away from that. #dotherightthingintherightway https://t.co/izsMMCFPrz

— Alexander S. Vindman (@AVindman) September 14, 2021

And Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio penned a letter to Joe Biden calling on him to fire Milley if the allegations are true.

“I write with grave concern regarding recent reporting that General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, worked to actively undermine the sitting Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces and contemplated a treasonous leak of classified information to the Chinese Communist Party in advance of a potential armed conflict with the People’s Republic of China (PRC),” Rubio said. “These actions by General Milley demonstrate a clear lack of sound judgment, and I urge you to dismiss him immediately.”

“General Milley has attempted to rationalize his reckless behavior by arguing that what he perceived as the military’s judgment as more stable than its civilian commander,” the senator said.. “It is a dangerous precedent that could be asserted at any point in the future by General Milley or others. It threatens to tear apart our nation’s longstanding principle of civilian control of the military.”

“You must immediately dismiss General Milley. America’s national security and ability to lead in the world are at stake,” he said.

And then there was Trump’s own Defense Secretary Mark Esper who also initiated back-channel communications with China, Axios penned.

“Esper directed his policy office to issue a backchannel message to the Chinese to reassure them the U.S. had no intention of seeking a military confrontation. The message: Don’t over-read what you’re seeing in Washington; we have no intention to attack; and let’s keep lines of communication open,” Axios said.

“These backchannel communications were handled a couple of levels below Esper, one of the sources said. U.S. officials involved thought the Chinese received the initial message well. Milley followed up later in the month with a call to his Chinese counterpart to reiterate the message, two of the sources confirmed,” it said.

“It’s unclear whether anyone at the Pentagon told President Trump or the White House what they were doing,” it said.

If Milley was following the lead of Esper then the question becomes, was the defense secretary undermining the president’s authority?

A statement from Gen. Milley spokesman Col. Dave Butler does not deny that he did what the book claims he did, and raises questions about Esper and the Department of Defense’s role.

“The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs regularly communicates with Chiefs of Defense across the world, including with China and Russia. These conversations remain vital to improving mutual understanding of U.S. national security interests, reducing tensions, providing clarity, and avoiding unintended consequences or conflict,” the statement said.

“His calls with the Chinese and others in October and January were in keeping with these duties and responsibilities conveying reassurance in order to maintain strategic stability. All calls from the Chairman to his counterparts, including those reported, are staffed, coordinated, and communicated with the Department of Defense and the interagency,” it said.

“In keeping with his responsibilities as senior military advisor to the President and Secretary of Defense, General Milley frequently conducts meetings with uniformed leaders across the Services to ensure all leaders are aware of current issues,” it said. “The meeting regarding nuclear weapons protocols was to remind uniformed leaders in the Pentagon of the long-established and robust procedures in light of media reporting on the subject.”

Special Counsel John Durham Expected To Indict Clinton Campaign/DNC Lawyer

Special Counsel John Durham is expected to indict a prominent Democratic lawyer who worked for the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Durham “will ask a grand jury to indict” Michael Sussman for giving false statements, which appear to be related to a meeting he had on Sept. 19, 2016, with FBI lawyer James Baker.

At this meeting, Sussman reportedly relayed to the FBI the discredited theory that the Trump Organization was communicating with Alfa Bank.

“Any indictment of the lawyer — Michael Sussmann, a former federal prosecutor and now a partner at the Perkins Coie law firm, and who represented the Democratic National Committee on issues related to Russia’s 2016 hacking of its servers — is likely to attract significant political attention, the New York Times reported.

The NYT states: “Mr. Baker, the former F.B.I. lawyer, is said to have told investigators that he recalled Mr. Sussmann saying that he was not meeting him on behalf of any client.”

Sussman told a different story with his testimony to Congress and his own billing records.

Sussman’s lawyers have even acknowledged “they expected him to be indicted.”

Back in 2020, Durham impaneled a grand jury relating to the false Alfa Bank/Trump Organization story.

The NYT reported:

The accusation against Mr. Sussmann focuses on a meeting he had on Sept. 19, 2016, with James A. Baker, who was the F.B.I.’s top lawyer at the time, according to the people familiar with the matter. They spoke on condition of anonymity.

Because of a five-year statute of limitations for such cases, Mr. Durham has a deadline of this weekend to bring a charge overactivity from that date.

At the meeting, Mr. Sussmann relayed data and analysis from cybersecurity researchers who thought that odd internet data might be evidence of a covert communications channel between computer servers associated with the Trump Organization and with Alfa Bank, a Kremlin-linked Russian financial institution.

The report added:

But Mr. Durham did apparently find an inconsistency: Mr. Baker, the former F.B.I. lawyer, is said to have told investigators that he recalled Mr. Sussmann saying that he was not meeting him on behalf of any client. But in a deposition before Congress in 2017, Mr. Sussmann testified that he sought the meeting on behalf of an unnamed client who was a cybersecurity expert and had helped analyze the data.

Moreover, internal billing records Mr. Durham is said to have obtained from Perkins Coie are said to show that when Mr. Sussmann logged certain hours as working on the Alfa Bank matter — though not the meeting with Mr. Baker — he billed the time to Mrs. Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

NEW: Prosecutor John Durham has told a cyber lawyer — who works for the firm that repped Clinton campaign — that he wants to indict him on suspicion of lying about who he repped when he told F.B.I. in ’16 about potential ties b/w Trump and Russia. https://t.co/KiSUIeGuzh

Durham is presenting evidence to a grand jury regarding his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.

Durham’s final report is expected to be completed in the coming months.

Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, argued a month ago that he expects Durham to release a “damaging report” on the FBI’s failed investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged ties with Russia.

Nunes asserted at the time that prison sentences could fall on a number of former senior Obama officials.

DEFEATED: Pelosi Suffers Huge Blow After 3 Moderate Dems Revolt Against Drug Pricing Plan

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suffered an embarrassing defeat this week after three moderate Democrats revolted and sunk her prescription drug plan.

The Democrat-backed legislation to lower drug prices was defeated in a House committee after three moderate Democrats voted against their own party’s measure.

Democratic Reps. Kurt Schrader of Oregon, Scott Peters of California, and Kathleen Rice of New York voted against the plan to allow the secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate lower drug prices, The Hill reported.

But it is more than just a blow to Pelosi’s ego – Democrats were trying to use their legislation, in part, to pay for the $3.5 trillion spending bill they are trying to ram through Congress.

After the measure was struck down, Pelosi spokesperson Henry Connelly said:

Polling consistently shows immense bipartisan support for Democrats’ drug price negotiation legislation, including overwhelming majorities of Republicans and independents who are fed up with Big Pharma charging Americans so much more than they charge for the same medicines overseas.

Delivering lower drug costs is a top priority of the American people and will remain a cornerstone of the Build Back Better Act as work continues between the House, Senate, and White House on the final bill.

Liberals immediately attacked the three moderates Democrats and accused them of being beholden to the pharmaceutical industry.

“Reps. Peters, Rice, and Schrader are prioritizing drug company profits over lower drug prices for the American people, particularly for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis,” said Patrick Gaspard, president of the left-leaning Center for American Progress.

“To the contrary of what they contend, their opposition to the drug’s proposal threatens the entirety of President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, which Democrats have campaigned on for years and that they previously voted for,” he added.

West Virginia Democrat  Sen. Joe Manchin also gave Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats the news they did not want to hear.

On Sunday, he said that he cannot support the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill.

“We don’t have the need to rush into this and get it done within one week because there’s some deadline we’re meeting or someone’s going to fall through the cracks,” he said during an interview on the NBC show “Meet the Press.”

“I want to make sure that children are getting taken care of, that people are basically having an opportunity to go back to work. We have 11 million jobs that we haven’t filled, 8 million people are still unemployed. Something’s not matching up there,” he said.

When he appeared on the CNN show “State of the Union,” he told host Dana Bash that he did not support the timeline the Democrats want.

He said that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer “will not have my vote, and Chuck knows that.”

Manchin has expressed his reservations about the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill in the past.

“I, for one, won’t support a $3.5 trillion bill, or anywhere near that level of additional spending, without greater clarity about why Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt have on existing government programs,” the senator said.

“This is even more important now as the Social Security and Medicare Trustees have sounded the alarm that these life-saving programs will be insolvent and benefits could start to be reduced as soon as 2026 for Medicare and 2033, a year earlier than previously projected, for Social Security,” he said.

“Instead of rushing to spend trillions on new government programs and additional stimulus funding, Congress should hit a strategic pause on the budget-reconciliation legislation. A pause is warranted because it will provide more clarity on the trajectory of the pandemic, and it will allow us to determine whether inflation is transitory or not,” Manchin said. “While some have suggested this reconciliation legislation must be passed now, I believe that making budgetary decisions under artificial political deadlines never leads to good policy or sound decisions. I have always said if I can’t explain it, I can’t vote for it, and I can’t explain why my Democratic colleagues are rushing to spend $3.5 trillion.”

“An overheating economy has imposed a costly “inflation tax” on every middle- and working-class American. At $28.7 trillion and growing, the nation’s debt has reached record levels. Over the past 18 months, we’ve spent more than $5 trillion responding to the coronavirus pandemic. Now Democratic congressional leaders propose to pass the largest single spending bill in history with no regard to rising inflation, crippling debt, or the inevitability of future crises,” Manchin said.

He added: “Those who believe such concerns are overstated should ask themselves: What do we do if the pandemic gets worse under the next viral mutation? What do we do if there is a financial crisis like the one that led to the Great Recession? What if we face a terrorist attack or major international conflict? How will America respond to such crises if we needlessly spend trillions of dollars today?”
